Volunteer of the Month

January 2010
Bill Fifield

Ike Ikeme Bill has been volunteering at the Food and Care Coalition for five months cutting hair in our new barbershop. Bill helped get our barber shop set up and organized, drawing on his skills and experience as a professional barber through the military. His most memorable experience while serving here has been when he gave a haircut to a long-time homeless man. Bill states "He had long hair and a scruffy long beard. An hour later, he looked like a businessman with a short goatee. He looked totally different and he really liked his new look and kept looking at himself in the mirror." Bill's favorite saying is "ang tough! Never, never, never give up hope!"
