Getting Out of the Trap

Long time mentor client, Nancy Broadhead, shared her success story and provided valuable and motivating information and ideas to help clients reach their self sufficiency goals.

Nancy shared the following suggestions for mentor clients:

  • Focus on going forward. Break the habit of falling backward.
  • Patience with yourself and others is important.
  • Have courage to stick to it! HANG ON!
  • Keep faith in yourself! Everyone makes mistakes.
  • Mentors cannot do it for you. You have to do for yourself.
  • Talk to your mentors and share your feelings.
  • You are your own worst enemy. Always congratulate yourself when you accomplish something

Nancy gave the following suggestions for mentor advocates:

  • Encouragement is very important!
  • Be patient and don't give up!
  • Provide clients with valuable insight.
  • Develop a true friendship with client.
  • LISTEN!
  • Your help means the world to the clients.
