Many of our mentor clients are in need of stable income and employment. The following resources are available in the community to assist your client's in their employment seeking efforts.

Vocational Rehabilitation helps people with physical and mental disabilities prepare for work and find a job so they can live more independently. Services include counseling and guidance, medical services and treatment, assistive technology, training and education, job placement, and other services to help clients reach employment goal. LDS Employment Resource Center offers career workshops, counseling, and job placement services for individuals who are looking for work or for those who want to upgrade their current employment. For more information, call 818-6161

Department of Workforce Services (DWS) offers job placement services, counseling, and job seeking skills and resume building classes. For more information, call 342-2600 or access information online at jobs.utah.gov. DWS also sponsors a resume building class every month at the Coalition. It is held the first Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Coalition classroom.

Temporary Employment

There are many different temporary agencies in the area that offer short term or "band aid" employment. Most of these agencies offer daily or weekly payment. To make the process easier and more effective, the following tips have been suggested by Temporary Staffing Services.

What's required for employment?

  • Two forms of identification
  • Valid Social Security Number
  • Authorization to work permit
  • Steel toe boots
  • Gloves
  • Phone Contact
  • Drug testing

What type of work is available?

  • Most active work period runs from mid March until the first snow
  • Construction
  • General Labor
  • Skilled Labor
  • Light Industrial
  • Clerical/Office

  • Temporary workers are covered for Job Related accidents
  • Most employment agencies pay weekly
  • Register with several agencies
  • Check in on a DAILY basis, early in the day
